Florida's attorney general is suing the Atlantic Coast Conference in an attempt to receive the media rights contracts with Florida State University. The suit filed Thursday is part of an ongoing dispute as FSU seeks to leave the conference. Attorney General Ashley Moody said the ACC has failed to turn over the contracts despite a public records request she made in January. She argues that the contracts are public records because it involves an agreement with a government-run university. The university and conference are suing each other as FSU seeks to leave the ACC and explore a more lucrative landing spot.

Quarterback Jaden Rashada has committed to Georgia after leaving Arizona State in the transfer portal. Rashada's agent, Henry Danger of Disruptive Sports, told The Associated Press in an email on Thursday that the one-time Florida quarterback commit has transferred to the Gators' Southeastern Conference rival in Georgia. Rashada was among the top 40 prospects in the country, according to ESPN, when he signed with Florida in December 2022. He ended up going to Arizona State when an NIL deal fell apart with the Gators. Rashada will compete at Georgia with returning starter Carson Beck, who went 12-1 in his first season leading the Bulldogs.

The Phoenix Suns and their so-called Big Three return home to the desert in a big pickle. Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal and the Suns are in a 2-0 hole heading into Friday's Game 3 of their Western Conference first-round playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, who looked mostly dominant in a pair of double-digit wins in the first two games. The Suns hoped to be one of the NBA's best teams this year after acquiring Beal in an offseason trade. There are two more Game 3s on Friday, including Bucks at Pacers and Clippers at Mavericks. Both of those series are tied at 1-1.

Rafael Nadal cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory against American teenager Darwin Blanch in the first round of the Madrid open. Nadal looked in good form in what was only his third competitive match since returning from his latest injury layoff. He had made his return in Barcelona last week, losing to Alex De Minaur in the second round. Nadal had arrived in Madrid saying he was not 100% fit and that he was only going to play because the tournament was at home. In the women's draw top-ranked Iga Swiatek and American Coco Gauff both advanced.

Charlie Woods failed to qualify for his first U.S. Open after shooting 9-over 81 in a local qualifying event in Florida. The 15-year-old son of Tiger Woods tied for 61st among the 74 players who finished the 6,975-yard layout at Legacy Golf & Tennis Club in St. Port Lucie. The top five advanced to regional qualifying. Woods shot 40 on the front nine, going bogey-double bogey on his first two holes and then following a birdie on the par-3 fifth with another double bogey. He shot 41 on the back, going five over a stretch of six holes.

Spain's sports authority says it will step in to oversee the Spanish Football Federation after a corruption probe has targeted the current and former federation presidents. The move by the government comes two weeks after an investigating judge expanded a corruption probe that had already led to the arrest of former federation president Luis Rubiales to include his successor. The corruption and money laundering investigation is looking into contracts that took the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia and other deals made under Rubiales. The government has expressed its concern for the reputational damage to Spanish soccer.

José Ramírez belted his sixth career grand slam and had three hits, Will Brennan had a solo homer and the Cleveland Guardians beat the Boston Red Sox 6-4. Cleveland has the best record in the American League at 18-7 and matched the second-best mark in franchise history through 25 games on Thursday. Rafael Devers had three hits and Rob Refsnyder tripled in a run for the Red Sox. Jarren Duran had an RBI single in the sixth for Boston. Ramírez's slam off Chase Anderson came one pitch after he appeared to strike out to end the second, but Red Sox catcher Reese McGuire couldn't hold onto the foul tip.

The Cyclones and Wildcats will close the 2024 regular season in Ames, Iowa, on Nov. 24 and meet again on Aug. 23, 2025, at Aviva Stadium in Dublin. The World Anti-Doping Agency has been heavily criticized this week for its secretive oversight of positive tests by 23 Chinese swimmers before the Tokyo Olympics. Now the agency has appointed a veteran Swiss prosecutor to review how it handled the case in 2021. Prosecutor Eric Cottier was attorney general for 17 years until December 2022 of Vaud. That's the home canton (state) of the International Olympic Committee and swimming's governing body World Aquatics. WADA says Cottier will have total access to its files. He should report to WADA within two months. The Paris Olympics open July 26.

Special anti-terrorism measures being put in place to safeguard the unprecedented opening ceremony for the Paris Olympics on the River Seine will also apply to all buildings along the route. The Paris police chief said Thursday that will mean people who work and live along the route and their guests will be subjected to background security checks. The wildly ambitious July 26 ceremony is proving to be a huge security challenge. Athletes will be paraded through the heart of the French capital on 94 boats along a 6-kilometer stretch of the Seine. All of the parade route will be inside a high-security zone that the police chief described as an "anti-terrorism perimeter."

Theo Pourchaire faces a new challenge following his IndyCar debut as he goes from the streets of Long Beach to the road course at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama. The 20-year old Frenchman is the reigning Formula 2 champion. He will get his second turn racing for injured Arrow McLaren driver David Malukas on Sunday. He goes to a different side of the country and a much different course. Pourchaire went from 22nd to 11th as the biggest mover at Long Beach and called it a big positive from his first IndyCar race.

Longtime South Carolina national championship women's equestrian coach Boo Major is retiring after 26 seasons. Major won three national titles in 2005, 2007 and 2015. She won back-to-back Southeastern Conference crowns in 2013 and 2014. Major said she had mixed feelings about the move, which she announced Thursday. She is excited about doing things she has put off in her career. But she's sad about leaving a job that taught her so much about herself and others.

But he's glad he could fend off suitors for White in the offseason. The Huskers put up their best defensive numbers in a decade in Rhule's first year at Nebraska. The Huskers are coming off one of their worst offensive seasons. The defense brings back six starters and probably will carry a heavy load if the Huskers are to make their first bowl since 2016.
