THE AUTO SHOP — I've never been a big car guy. I've nothing against them and I know why people love cars. It's just that I was never the kid with posters of Ferraris and Lamborghinis all over his bedroom walls. I currently own the nicest car I've ever had, and I think it's pretty amazing. It's a Hyundai.

The little I know about how nice a car is gets eclipsed by my lack of knowledge of any and all things mechanical.

I took auto mechanics in my sophomore year of high school, and all I really managed to do in that class was break a windshield and nearly cut off my friend's right hand when I decided to start the car while he was working on the engine.

What I'm getting at is ... I am that guy who walks into a mechanic shop and says, "Yeah, it's making a noise like a defeated turtle who just found out he's lost his job and that his son is failing freshman math."

This video makes me feel slightly better about my attempts at explaining car noises. These mechanics have taken actual customer statements about the noise their car is making and then give us a listen to the problem. Sure, my turtle description may seem absurd, but when the guy came in and said his car sounded like the intro of a Van Halen song, it seemed insane, too.

But guess what? It sounds exactly like Eddie himself gearing up for some David Lee Roth vocals.

I know nothing about cars, but thankfully, some great mechanics out there do, and they can help cheer up that trodden-down turtle lurking somewhere in the depths of my Hyundai.
