SALT LAKE CITY — A couple of get-right wins in Region 1 helped earn this week's KSL.com Clean Simple Eats high school hoops players honors.

The Fremont girls basketball team shook off a loss to Davis to reach a new season high in points in a 62-31 win over Farmington. Senior Syncere Langston chipped in 13 points in the win after putting up 6 points, nine rebounds and three blocks against Davis.

"We're learning how to move the ball better and play as a unit," Langston said. "We have a pretty young team, so we've just had to learn how to kind of click with each other and bond. Our goals for the rest of the season are to be more consistent and just keep playing as a team and working together."

The Silverwolves move to 1-1 in region play and third in Region 1. They travel to Weber Friday before welcoming second place Syracuse to Fremont on Jan. 23.

On the boys side, Farmington's Paul Beattie hit the game-winner Tuesday in a 63-62 win over Fremont to make up for a 75-74 loss to Weber over the weekend. Beattie is in the top 10 in Utah in rebounding and top 15 in scoring as the senior looks to lead the Phoenix to a region title in a crowded field.

"I feel like our transition (play) has really gotten good, and we're playing our best when we're pushing the ball," Beattie said. "Our team chemistry, I feel like every game gets better. We're able to click, know where we're going to be, and we're just blending really well."

The Phoenix are currently third in Region 1 at 1-1 and travel to first place Layton Friday before welcoming fourth place Davis to Farmington on Jan. 23.
