The 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker committed to the Cougars over offers from USC, Utah, San Diego State and Tennessee, among others.

Rated the No. 7 prospect in Utah by 247Sports, Asiata is the son of former Utah and NFL running back Matt Asiata who totaled 53 tackles, 21 tackles for loss and nine sacks as a senior for the 5-6 Mustangs — just under two years after he was one of three players shot during an incident at Hunter High School, when doctors gave him a 1% chance to live.
