SPRINGDALE, Washington County — A rockfall in the Weeping Rock area at Zion National Park on Tuesday created a waterfall-like effect as dust cascaded off a cliff and was captured on video by several visitors at the park.
Park officials learned of the rockfall at 3:30 p.m. and found a large amount of debris and a dust cloud.

Dust from the rockfall caused shuttle service at the park to halt until about 5 p.m.
"Thankfully, park rangers did not need to treat any injuries," Jeff Bradybaugh, Zion National Park superintendent, said. "Rockfall can happen at any time in this highly erosive landscape." He did not say how long the area will be closed, but said officials are assessing the damages.
