LEHI — Have you ever gotten ready to leave on vacation, and can't find a certain piece of luggage that you swear you packed? Then, try as you may, you learn the suitcase decided on its own accord not to go on your planned vacation but, instead, to roll to an undisclosed location, never to be seen or heard from again?

On Sept. 13, Jake and Sean Taylor-Baumann, of Lehi, along with their triplet toddlers were all packed and ready to go on a fun-filled family vacation when the elusive suitcase decided to make a roll for it — out the door and down the street.

The whole incident was caught on the couple's security camera and, according to Jake Taylor-Baumann, watching his suitcase (which he affectionately referred to as "Roman," due to its tendency not to stay in its designated spot) leave without saying goodbye, was a little disheartening.

Roman often joined the family on their trips, seemed to love riding the conveyor belt, and, at times, even got to ride shotgun. It was unlike the suitcase to disappear like that. To make matters more puzzling, the couple's daughter and dog appear to be in on Roman's bolt for freedom, as the two are clearly seen sending it off in a friendly farewell.

In all seriousness, though, Jake Taylor-Baumann said he thought it might be "paranormal activity" that caused his belongings to vanish.

"We seriously thought we had a ghost!" he told KSL.com. "We searched for 30 minutes all over the house and thought we were going crazy. Then (we) looked at the cameras. We still haven't been able to locate it … did it really roll all the way to the highway?"

Did Roman the suitcase leave on its own accord? Did the Taylor-Baumann's dog and child conspire to set it free? Or, was it a ghost? Either way, life is a highway, and even personified suitcases wanna ride it ... all night long (apparently).
