OGDEN — Those in the market for a new job could receive an on-the-spot offer from the Internal Revenue Service during a hiring event this week in Ogden.

The IRS will host a hiring event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday this week — May 25-26 — at the Copper Nickel Events Center, 2450 Grant Ave. in Ogden, according to a news release. Walk-ins are welcome and the hiring event is open to the public.

The IRS says it is looking to fill hundreds of full-time swing shift jobs at its processing center in Ogden. The shift starts at 4 p.m. and ends at 12:30 a.m. from Monday through Friday. The positions are for clerk and tax examiner roles, and those hired will receive on-the-job training. Applicants could be hired on the spot and begin work within 45 to 60 days, the news release says.

The jobs are described as entry-level positions, and pay starts at $15.61 an hour, with opportunities for pay advancement. Available jobs include benefits, paid vacations and paid sick days.

Those interested in attending the hiring event should bring a resume, college transcript if available and two forms of identification, like a driver's license, state ID card, birth certificate, passport, Social Security card or Military ID. Candidates are encouraged set up a USAJOBS account before attending. Applicants can use the website to build or upload a resume, which should be emailed to recruiter4information@irs.gov before the event.

Interested applicants can register for the hiring events online, though candidates can also walk-in for the event. Candidates may be fingerprinted.

The hiring event comes months after the IRS held another in-person hiring event in Clearfield on March 31 and April 1, as the department sought to hire 1,000 to work at the Ogden campus. The IRS announced earlier this year it would make a push to hire 10,000 new workers in order to help clear a large backlog in tax filings.

For more information, interested applicants can call Ogden IRS recruiters at 801-620-4562 (4JOB) or email wi.ogden.recruitment@irs.gov.
