OGDEN — Two men died and three others were hospitalized after their vehicle left the road and hit a tree early Saturday.
About 2:30 a.m. North Ogden police attempted to stop a vehicle for minor traffic violations. The vehicle took off at a high rate of speed westbound on 3100 N., according to police. The vehicle traveled through the intersection of 450 E. 3100 N. and the officer indicated that he saw sparks.
The vehicle then left the road and hit a large tree. Two men died at the scene and three others were taken to the hospital with unknown conditions, according to police.
The men's ages ranged from the late-teens to early-20s, police said.
It is unknown why the vehicle took off when the officer attempted to make a traffic stop. Alcohol and marijuana were located inside the vehicle and impairment is being investigated as a factor, according to police.
