MORGAN — A Morgan County man will spend the foreseeable future in prison after he was sentenced earlier this month on charges accusing him of sexually abusing children in his neighborhood.
Jeffrey Curtis Horrocks, 54, of Peterson, was sentenced to at least 30 years in prison on two separate cases involving the sexual abuse of children. Horrocks received two sentences of 15 years to life on two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, which a judge ordered to be served consecutively, court records say.
Charges were first filed against Horrocks in December 2020, accusing him of sexually abusing a boy under the age of 8.
Investigators say Horrocks showed him a video of Horrocks having sex with his wife and other pornographic videos. He was also charged with sexually abusing the boy during those times and filming some of the incidents on his cellphone.
As police investigated, they reported finding additional victims. Horrocks was charged the next month with sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl and was later charged with sexually abusing another young girl after police analyzed videos seized from Horrocks' home, court documents state.
Horrocks pleaded guilty to the two sex abuse charges in March and was sentenced on May 2.
"Jeffrey's sentences are to be served back-to-back due to the severity and nature of the offenses committed," the Morgan County Sheriff's Office said in a statement released Thursday.
As part of a plea deal, 10 other felony charges against Horrocks were dropped, as well as four misdemeanors.
Following his sentencing, Horrocks was transferred from the Weber County Jail to the Utah State Prison to begin serving his sentence, according to the Utah Department of Corrections.
