State golf: Pine View repeats as 4A champs; Richfield takes 4th-straight in 3A

ST. GEORGE — Déjà vu struck hard Thursday.

Not only did Dixie's Annabelle Millard claim medalist honors for the second year in a row, but top-rated Pine View won its second-straight Class 4A state girls golf by pulling away from the field by more than a dozen strokes at Sunbrook Golf Club.

Millard shot a two-day total of 18-over-par 162 to hold off runner-up RaeLee Johnson of Cedar. The Flyers senior carded the low mark of the second round at 82 to hold off Johnson, a sophomore who shot 78 in Wednesday's opening round to stay in the hunt.

The Panthers were led by sophomore Alyssa Butteries, who shot a two-day total of 171 for fifth place, leading a group of Pine View golfers that also included Katelyn Leavitt in sixth, Hallie Wieland in seventh and Kenzi Owen and eighth.

3A state golf: Trio of Wildcats lead Richfield to fourth-straight title

Richfield senior Gwen Stubbs rallied back from a six-shot deficit in the opening round to take medalist honors by one stroke, leading the Wildcats to their fourth-straight 3A state championship Thursday at Oquirrh Hills Golf Course.

Stubbs held off teammate Becca Poulsen for the top spot, while Richfield freshman Shelby Gardner finished tied for third with a two-day total of 170.

The trio helped the Wildcats cruise to the team title, carding back-to-back scores of 337 to leave no doubt on the four-peat. Morgan finished second with a team total of 732, followed by Judge Memorial (734), Juan Diego (780) and Union (783).
